Hi, I’m Cassandra. Welcome to my poetry blog!
I have been writing poetry since I was 10 years old. As a kid, I enjoyed and was inspired by the works of Edgar Allan Poe, Robert Frost, and Walt Whitman. I spent lots of my time reading short stories, novels, and poems. My strong interest in reading roused me to start writing. Most of the time, I wrote without rhyme or reason, throwing words into stanzas just to get it on paper. I wrote about 20 poems that didn’t make any sense within a couple of months. In my defense, I was aware that the poems were inexplicable, but I wrote because it made me happy. I liked the look of calligraphy on paper, and nothing made me more excited than to finish a poem I had started. Then, in my teens, I wrote nearly a poem a day and published my very first poem in Teen Ink Magazine.
After the publication, the frequency in which I wrote was depleted. I went through a major writer’s block, and after that, no time to spare and no motivation to give to writing. That is why I started this blog. Although the frequency in which I write now is nowhere near the frequency I wrote as a kid, the quality of my writing now is improving. Writing will always be my passion, and what better way to keep the words flowing than with a blog! You can expect to read my posts at least once a week! I write a lot about the psyche, culture, and nature in free verse, and my poems are notorious for melancholic imagery with a positive outlook. I hope my poems give you inspiration, positivity, and joy.
